About Me

Misty L. Bishop is a paralegal who is also a poet, a published author, former recording artist/radio personality, community activist and entrepreneur who resides in Houston, Texas.
She is the wife of a local visual artist, Mack L Bishop III and together they have four sons: Mack IV (Onyi), Malik Lali, Mansur Lemuel and Manolo Lavi. She is also the daughter of Pastor Mary Lois Shotlow and Clarence, and Herbert Lee Edwards and sister of Clarence Shotlow Jr, Cameron Shotlow, Michelle Shotlow, Monica Augustus, Kevin Young, LaTresia Bookman, Hershanber Bookman, and Beatrice Johnson. Misty is also a native of Grimes County, Texas and an alumna of Anderson-Shiro Jr-Sr. High School, and Texas Southern University.
Misty has a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice and minor in Speech Communication, and Masters in Public Administration with honors from Texas Southern University. She also has a paralegal/legal assistant certificate from Southwestern Professional Institute. She’s currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Administration & Public Policy and a law degree to specialize in transactional, taxation, mergers & acquisitions law as well as sports & entertainment, and labor & employment law in the near future.
In addition to her educational background and goals, Misty is a woman who wears many hats. She’s worked as a contractor for over 15 years for Fortune 100 and 500 companies within the Houston area such as Lendio, Merck Co., Bracewell PC, Jackson Lewis PC, BP, Gexa Energy, Suez Energy, Shell Oil, SWN Energy, Berg Androphy, Occidental Petroleum, Devon Energy, and Vantage Drilling. She even was the first Texas Southern undergrad student to ever intern at the Harris County District Attorney Office-Grand Jury Prosecutor Division in the Fall of 2000. In spite of her busy schedule as a contractor, the former radio personality of Pacifica radio and AM and recording artist, is a published author and poet who is the CEO of a self-subsidy and talent consulting company called Love, Spirit Truth Publishing. Under this company, she manages and consults talents in fine arts like her husband, the visual artist, Worldurbanartist-Mack Bishop III, her son, Malik Bishop and author, Jeremiah Short and so on. Misty also dedicates her time in advocating for the wellbeing of the youth and young adults’ education as Swag Achievements’ Vice President of Student Affairs Marketing. She even started a chapter at Texas Southern University when she was employee at Thurgood Marshall School of Law. The first ever campus organization to have both undergrad, grad and professional students working together in their communities and excelling in their academics and now careers. From this chapter, SWAG has 21 licensed attorneys now since 2017 with more than 10 entrepreneurs in counting who are not attorneys. She also worked hand and hand with other community activist like former Houston’s Councilwoman, Amanda Edwards in the city of Houston on Be The Solution taskforce. In addition to her community activism, Misty is the founder of #WeAre1 Movement. An organization of individuals that advocate for justice for all and equality for everyone in education, the criminal justice system, housing and workplace. She also enjoys spending time with her family, singing and engaging in activities that are family oriented and spiritual enlightening.
